We’ll depart from your Hotel/Hostel (Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt) and travel through Villa Ensenada to the skirts of Volcano Osorno or “Pirepillán” in mapuche language, to the entrance of Vicente Perez Rosales National in the Petrohue area,   on the shores of Todos Los Santos Lake. On our way to the lake, we’ll pass through areas that are the out fall of the rivers which flow from the sides of Osorno Volcano.   We will cross vast areas of black ash that have been brought down by the glacial melt. You will appreciate the might of the volcano as you will see the results of the ash flows experienced during her eruptions. One can only imagine what it must have been like during her periods of activity.

Now, we go to take the route call “Desolation Pass”, toward the skirts of Volcano Osorno (8,730 feet in height).    As we head upwards to Desolation Pass, at an altitude of 5,610 feet between the Osorno and Cerro La Picada volcanoes, we will also see a wide variety of lava formations created by the lava flows that built Osorno. The vistas from this mile high vantage point are spectacular.

While ascending Osorno, we will have the opportunity to observe native trees and fauna of the area, as well as spectacular vistas of the environs of Todos Los Santos Lake  or Emeradl Lake (local name)from this high vantage point.   Time for rest, eat our food or take a lot of photos to this massive volcano.  Vistas of Calbuco, Puntiagudo, Tronador, Yates volcanoes, the Patagonian Andes Mountain Range, LLanquihue and Todos Los Santos Lakes.   Our descent will take us to Playa Larga  to Petrohue beach, where we will  pick up our transfer to Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt.

During our excursión we will appreciate forest species as: Coigues(Notofagus dombey)Radales(Lomatia hirsuta), Avellanos(Gevuina avellana), Bushes as  Murtilla(Ugni candollei),  About wildlife, we will see Chucaos (Scelorchilus rubecula), Huet – Huet (Pteroptochos tarnii), Tiuques (Milvago chimango), Diucones (Xolmis pyrope), and other local birds.
