Under the magnificent photogenic Washington Square Arch, the heart of bohemian Greenwich Village, we head past the former homes of great writers, artists, poets, actors, and musicians. In the radical sixties, the Village was a mecca for political extremism, including the notorious Weatherman’s building which exploded. Movie sights abound, as hundreds of films are made here every year. Sex in the City owes much of its existence to the Village. We pass Mayor Jimmy Walker’s house, the home for the Cosby Show, and the apartment building where Friends was filmed. This delightful tour ends in the beloved Little Italy at the edge of Chinatown, one of the greatest ethnic neighborhoods in the Western world. Touring Little Italy treats customers to a host of fine restaurants and historic moments in Italian-American history. The stories of Joey Gallo, John Gotti and his infamous Ravenite Social Club, Umberto’s Clam House, Lombardi’s Pizza and other attractions which make this ethnic enclave a legend. Swinging through the edge of Chinatown, we head into the East Village, the world center of punk rock in the 1970’s. We tour by Tompkins Square Park in the heart of Alphabet City, pass by St. Mark’s-in-the-Bowery, and even the world famous kosher Katz’s Deli, ending at the entrance to Manhattan’s ever growing Chinatown and its wonders of Asian cuisine and cultural fascination.
