Ferrara - Duchess' Itinerary
The Ducal Palace was the former residence of the Este family: it still preserves the little and charming «Camerino delle Duchesse». The Castle «Estense» (exterior visit) became the residence of Eleonora d'Aragona, but it also saw the tragedy of Parisina in its dungeons. The Romei House (inner visit) became the guest house of the Corpus Domini, beloved by Lucrezia Borgia, whose tomb is kept, together with the others of the Este family, inside the church. The Palace of Renée of France was the favourite residence of the calvinist duchess who protected the huguenots in her court. The Little Palace of Marfisa (inner visit) remembers to us of the fine litterary culture of the court and the Indian summer of the Este in Ferrara.
